Conceptual design | Site plan | Participants | Financial structure

Site plan. We have developed two site plans thus far, for two specific pieces of property on Galveston Island. One encompasses 22 acres and the other is 13 acres. The 13 acre site is the piece that the renderings on this website are modeled for. The site plan includes all structures, the pool itself and other pending phases of the project, which includes 19,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space (in addition to the main clubhouse), a 26 site RV park area, and a proposed skatepark with an outdoor stage venue for music and video events.

The Pool
The pool is a symmetrical design, which is divided into two distinct zones; a surfing zone and a family recreation zone. The center of the pool is designated for surfing while the perimeter lagoons are designed for swimming and lounging. This design provides a non-congested surfing area and a safe, surfer-free swimming zone. Both the surfing zones and the recreational lagoon zones are fully life-guarded at all times.

The surf zone consists of two channels with vertical boundary walls that taper in height with the wave size (roughly 1’higher than the wave). These channel walls contain and direct the wave energy across an underwater reef that borders the perimeter of the channel on each side producing 2 independent point waves that peel down each side of the channel. Because there are two channels, there are four independent waves (2 lefts and 2 rights) produced each time the wave generator is fired. The wave begins as a 7’ face and ends as a 3’ face over a minimum ride length of 75 yards per wave.

The primary wave is generated by a single array of “Wave Cannons” augmented so as to focus the energy into a peak that is then divided into two independent swells that travel down the channels. This arrangement has a sling effect that accelerates the wave into the channels producing two, high quality, barreling waves per channel. The wave is fired every 45 seconds (320 waves per hour). Four surfers take off with each firing and surf their own wave. No crowds, no paddlers, no hassles.

Once the wave is finished, special wash-over zones absorb the remaining energy. The surfer then paddles around the point of the peninsula that separates the channel from the lagoon and can continue paddling through the lagoon to the beach or walk up on to the peninsula tip. Either route leads back to the line for another wave without paddling back through the surf zone.

The two lagoons are bordered on three sides by a transition sand beach that gently slopes into the water. The gradual slope reaches a depth of 5 feet at the center making it ideal for swimming and paddling. A small wave generator exclusively for boogie boards is being considered at one end of the lagoons. The outer perimeter of the lagoon beach area is a shaded green space for picnicking and escape from the sun.

The Boardwalk
The boardwalk showcases a five star restaurant as its centerpiece overlooking the pool landscape. Bordering on each side of the restaurant is ---square feet of retail space and shower/bath amenities. Retail space will include concessions, beach goods, specialty stores, and seating. Retail and restaurant access is unrestricted, while the beach is accessible, with a pass, at either end of the boardwalk. Free parking for --- is available at the front of the park. Shuttled employee parking is available behind the maintenance building on the back side of the park.

The RV Site
A 26 site first class RV park is located on the back side of the park and accessed through a controlled gate in the main parking lot. RV guests have access to the boardwalk, all the privileges of the lagoon area, and their own green space adjacent to the hook-up sites. Access to the RV park from any part of the park is controlled for the safety of the RV campers. The park will have a twenty-four hour security patrol.

Proposed Skate Park
A skate park is proposed opposite of the RV park. This park adjunct would be accessed at the opposite side of the parking lot from the RV entrance and isolated from beach access. This park would be a year round indoor facility featuring the ultimate in ramps, rails, moguls, and equipment.

Note:
These renderings are original concept drawings and may not depict the actual finished park design. Although the above descriptions are accurate, for design protection, certain rendering details, scale, and configurations are purposely different from the actual design. We are being closely monitored by the world and don’t want to give away the farm just yet.

These are early design renderings and do not depict all aspects of the ultimate design, and in some cases, may actually be misleading, due to proprietary information we have chosen to keep secret. The generalities of a single firing zone, using a combination of various sized pipes at various angles, all shot at once out of a single chute, to make one wave which breaks in four places in the pool, remains the same".
